Observe the long and narrow neck and pointed wings of this aptly named duck. Found in Illinois only in the spring, she dives for her food in very short spurts.
This bird is subject to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and remains under the stewardship of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
